We are delighted to invite you to the first IWIB4AI event in Paris, launching a new space for dialogue on the legal, ethical, and societal implications of emerging AI technologies.

This inaugural talk will explore the rise of Emotional AI—systems designed to detect, interpret, and respond to human emotions, from AI companions and affective chatbots to sentiment-adaptive interfaces.
As AI systems increasingly adapt to users’ emotional states, an important legal question emerges: can consent still be considered meaningful when technologies subtly shape human decision-making? The session will examine how emotionally adaptive AI challenges traditional notions of autonomy and consent, and where current regulatory frameworks—such as the General Data Protection Regulation and the EU AI Act—may face structural gaps.
