About the event

Welcome to the Official Launching of IWIB4AI Think-Tank

International WoMenX in Business for Ethical AI (IWIB4AI) is a global think-tank created to represent civil society in the AI conversation. 

IWIB4AI serves as a multidisciplinary, diverse, and inclusive platform to voice civil society's concerns and to help build a world where AI is developed, deployed, and used ethically. 

IWIB4AI stems from the Swedish professional network International Women In Business (IWIB), founded under the umbrella of The Stockholm Chamber of Commerce in 2018. IWIB has been registered as an interest group at The European Parliament transparency register since 2021 to monitor The EU AI Act.

Panelists: 

Dr. Ansgar Koene, Global AI Ethics and Regulatory Leader at EY (Ernst & Young) Global Public Policy. Dr. Koene leads the AI related public policy team and contributes to the work on AI governance and EY’s Trusted AI framework. As part of this work, he represents EY at the OECD Working Party on AI Governance and the Business at OECD Committee on Digital Economic Policy (BIAC CDEP). Ansgar chaired the IEEE P7003 Standard for Algorithmic Bias Considerations working group and is a co-convener for the European standards body (CEN-CENELEC JTC21) “AI” committee’s work on AI conformity assessment. He is a trustee for the 5Rights foundation for the Rights of Young People Online, advises on AI and Data Ethics for the pan-African NGO AfroLeadership, and is part of the SteerCo of the International Observatory on Information Democracy and the EU-funded research project on Fairness and Intersectional Non-Discrimination in Human Recommendation (FINDHR).

He holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering and a PhD in Computational Neuroscience.

Esther Paniagua, is an award-winning tech & society journalist, columnist, author and lecturer specialising in the intersection of technology and society. With over a decade of experience, she has dedicated her career to examining the profound societal impacts of technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), technology ethics, digital governance and regulation, and cybersecurity. Esther's contributions to the field of science and technology journalism have been widely recognized. She has been honored as one of Europe’s Best Scientific Writers, selected as one of Spain’s LinkedIn Top Voices in Technology & Innovation, recognized twice among the "Top 100 Women Leaders of Spain," and included twice in Forbes' list of the "100 Most Creative People in Business. Moreover, her investigative reporting, especially in the realms of AI, the digital economy, and drug discovery, earned her multiple awards.Her latest book, Error 404. Are you ready for a world without the internet? (Debate, 2021), has garnered critical acclaim. Originally published in Spanish, it has been translated into six languages, and is now part of the recommended reading list at various universities and business schools worldwide, including ESIC Business School, Sassari University, and Porto University. In addition to her written work, Esther is dedicated to education and knowledge dissemination. She serves as a director of the ‘AI Journalism’ module at the Rey Juan Carlos University's Master's Degree program in Investigative Journalism, New Narratives, Data, Fact-checking, and Transparency, among other teaching positions.

Kai Zenner, Head of Office and Digital Policy Adviser for MEP Axel Voss (European People’s Party Group) in the European Parliament.  Currently, he is involved in the political negotiations on the AI Act, AI liability directive, eprivacy Regulation and GDPR revision. In his individual capacity, he is pushing for reforms within the European Parliament and for bringing back the Better Regulation agenda to EU policy making. He is member of the OECD.AI Network of Experts since 2021, was awarded best MEP Assistant in 2023 ("APA who has gone above and beyond in his duties") and ranked Place #13 in Politico's Power 40 - class 2023 ("top influencers who are most effectively setting the agenda in politics, public policy and advocacy in Brussels").

Luca Bertuzzi, Euractiv Journalist and Editor for the digital, where he leads an international team based in Brussels, Paris and Berlin. As a journalist, he specialises in digital policy and EU affairs. Mr. Bertuzzi, regularly collaborates with IAPP, Tagesspiegel, la Repubblica and other publications.
